Celebrate Florida’s nature by painting birds in
watercolor. Bring your own reference photos from your
camera or magazines. Students will draw their chosen
bird(s) and then paint them without using brushes. We
will experiment with dropping in paint colors and mark
making by using found objects to stencil, stamp or scratch
a setting for your birds.
Please bring printouts or clippings of birds for reference.
(Choose simple subjects.) Also bring your own collection
of twigs, roots, leaves, pine needles, ferns, feathers, straws,
sponges and whatever else you might want to try.
Organizer
Barbara is a multidisciplinary artist whose work in painting and photography explores the delicate balance between fragility and resilience. Her imagery invites viewers into intimate, contemplative spaces—capturing fleeting beauty while embracing imperfection, memory, and the quiet tension of lived experience. Drawing inspiration from nature, personal reflection, and layered histories, she creates pieces that feel both grounded and mysterious, often combining sculptural paint techniques with organic, unexpected textures.
With a background that spans illustration, graphic design, and strategic communication, Barbara brings a rich depth of experience to her teaching practice. She holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a master’s from Monmouth University, and has worked extensively in art direction, marketing, and design education. An active member of multiple arts organizations and a former artist-in-residence, Barbara is passionate about helping students connect more deeply with their creative voice while exploring watercolor and the natural world.
